Remember Their Names

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
No heaven, no hell, no resurrection.
No day of judgement, no reincarnation.
No God's chosen people, no sacred nation.
No playing the victim as justification.
No monopoly on suffering, no inhuman sacrifice.

Just for a moment, try to forget,
The stories you've been told to adopt or reject,
And turn your attention to the miracle of birth.
Every child on this earth, as it draws its first breath,
Comes into this world, born with equal worth.

So remember their names,

Those you've orphaned, killed and maimed,
Then ask yourself, if this was the day you would draw your last breath,
Do you really believe your god would be impressed?

The more you see killing

As doing God's work,
The lower our chances of fulfilling
God's kingdom here on Earth.
